The Parking Debarcle
My family and I live in a semi-detached house just outside the centre of a large Welsh town, we have one car outside of the house but there is enough parking for two. Now, I’m a reasonable person that is willing to share the space outside the front of my house with any other road tax paying car owner. However, let me paint the picture.
The house adjoined to us has a drive, as does the property down but we do not have such a luxury. Across the road there are no houses just a beautiful empty strip of road that is free for anyone to use. It’s almost begging for some company, for a car just to park on it, or any other vehicle that would allow it to fulfil its purpose in life. But no. That would be far too much to ask!
Most days I leave the house like a ninja in stealth mode. I’m watching the cars driving up, they prey on my parking spaces like emaciated hyenas waiting for their turn to feed. I know it sounds unreasonable, but there is a lovely free section of road OPPOSITE in which they could park their car, without upsetting the residents! So why do they feel the need to park outside my house and use my spaces, especially as they never park with any consideration. Instead of parking so two cars can get in the space; that would be too difficult, they park right in the middle! To move their car just three meters forward would be inconceivable! I’m obviously an unreasonable human being to expect such common courtesies! Courtesies such as, not blocking neighbours driveways, or lingering in the road waiting for someone to leave so they can dive in. Now, I know that this week’s slimming club, bingo or draughts night is an important and pressing engagement but using our parking space does not seem like a fitting reason to block driveways and clog up the roads so that homeowners cannot get within 200 metres of their house! Breathe Curious Fox breathe….the fiasco continues!
