On no...it's cars again!

I promised myself that I would leave the subject of cars alone for fear I would sound like a driver consumed with road rage but I need to get a few things off my chest and then perhaps I'll leave the topic alone...well for few posts at least!

Rant 1

Mini roundabouts. The smaller sibling of the better known fully grown roundabout. They don't appear too often but when they do they cause chaos with drivers seeming to lose all knowledge of how to use a roundabout! Give way to the right, it's a simple rule that keeps traffic flowing and on a larger roundabout drivers are comfortable with this and follow accordingly. Then why does a mini roundabout provoke such havoc?! Cars approach them and stop, they just stop, still, fixed to the spot. No one seems to know who's turn it is to go, who to give way to so no one moves. It's completely ridiculous! THE SAME RULE APPLIES! In the event of this happening and the car to my right seems reluctant to go even with some polite hand gestures that it's their right of way then someone has to take the initiative and just drive, needless to say that this is usually me. Rules go out of the window, driving lessons abandoned and it's a free for all. I've seen so many near misses especially at my local supermarket that uses one for the petrol station to exit from, all caused by drivers seemingly perplexed and bewildered by the sight of a mini roundabout! It's baffling!

Rant 2:

Have you ever been driving down the road towards a traffic light that is lit green and the car in front starts slowing down? What is that all about? Are they trying to slow down enough that the light turns red and they have to stop? Are they purposefully trying to delay their journey and by consequence mine too? It's infuriating! The light is green so at least maintain your current speed but never slow down preempting a red light that's just poor driving surely? And to add insult to injury I'm sure this happens more frequently when I'm in a bit of a rush. It's not the biggest sin on the road but it's definitely a frustrating one. Grrrrrr....rant over!
